What Is The Foundry 27:17?
The Foundry 27:17 is a brotherhood for men who want to grow stronger in every part of life—spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically.
We’re not here to play church.
We’re not here to talk theory.
We’re here to forge men through purpose, challenge, truth, and faith.
Our name comes from Proverbs 27:17:
“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”
In the ancient world, metal wasn’t sharpened through comfort.
It was sharpened through pressure—steel hitting steel.
Friction.
Resistance.
Heat.
That’s how men grow too.
At The Foundry, we believe:
- Brotherhood over isolation — no man rises alone.
- Strength with humility — real men carry weight and accept sharpening.
- Faith by invitation, not pressure — wherever you are spiritually, you belong here.
- Discipline over comfort — growth begins when excuses end.
- Purpose over drifting — every man has a mission, and we help him find it.
This is not a support group.
This is a forge.
About Dave
I didn’t build The Foundry from a place of perfection.
I built it from fire.
My life has taken me through storms on the ocean and storms in my own soul—
a boat fire that destroyed everything we owned,
the loss of our dogs,
childhood trauma,
an alcoholic father,
the weight of sexual abuse,
Stage 4 melanoma,
an aneurysm,
and multiple miscarriages in our family.
Every storm sharpened me.
Every loss forged me.
Every trial became another moment where God rebuilt what life tried to break.
But I didn’t walk through any of it alone.
My wife, Beth, and our daughter, Landon, have been the constants in my life—the people I fought for, rebuilt with, and held onto through every season. Together we’ve sailed across oceans, rebuilt from tragedy, and learned firsthand what faith, perseverance, and family really mean. They are the anchor that keeps me grounded and the inspiration behind the man I continue to become.
I’ve sailed across oceans, weathered extreme winds, lived months at sea, and rebuilt my life more than once. Through all of it, I learned one truth:
A man does not sharpen himself.
He sharpens his brothers, and his brothers sharpen him.
That’s why I started The Foundry 27:17.
Not because I have it all figured out, but because I know what it takes to rise from the ashes and walk forward with purpose, discipline, and faith—for yourself and for the people you love.
